Bihar - Jharkhand and Winter

Currently, the temperature of Jharkhand is very low. This is a post which discusses about the winter time of Jharkhand and Bihar.

As soon as the name 'winter' begins to be pronounced, the people of Jharkhand and specially those of 'Lohardagga' and 'Hazaribag' begin to fear because winters in these two places and also in the whole Jharkhand is nothing less than a ghost. Due to the severe cold so many people die here in Jharkhand because here, winter is something more than a season. It is rather like a ghost or something from which people here fear. Hazaribag, the place which is the coldest in Jharkhand usually is also known as 'Mini Kashmir' just because of this climatic similarities.

Within the last week, the winter, namely which we call the chill in here, has killed as many as 17 people in Jharkhand and many are still severely sick because of the cold. For the bureaucrats and the rich, it hardly makes big difference but when it comes for the sick and the needy, winter is nothing less than a poison which kills you hard.

The temperature in Lohardagga has gone less to as much as 3 degree celsius. Even at Patna, where the summers are like heatwaves full of high temperatures, the temperature went as much to 7 degree celsius and the schools have been closed there for some days. Just day before yesterday, the District Magistrate of Hazaribag also announced a three day winter vacation for all the schools but in government schools there is a bit problem.

In the government schools, the three day winter vacation is only for the students. However, it looks like the adult people do not feel the chill and the cold and they do not get sick due to the falling temperature because they are expected to come to the school and do the pending works even when the temperature is so low.

Wow, at last, I would say, its once again a chilly winter.
