Sarhul is a festival, the main festival of the tribes of Jharkhand, especially the Mundas. This festival has many folk and traditional stories related with it. Some which were with it from old times and some which came later. Here I am with a story related with Sarhul which is related with the life struggle of the people.

During some time, there was a foreign attack on the tribal people and the tribal people were bravely fighting those people who were attacking them. During that time, the Sakhua tree in the forest helped them greatly. They used the Sakhua tree to use their leaves to make them hide or simply use the tree itself to hide themselves. They in the other words performed camouflage to fight back the foreigners.

After the fight ended, the tribal people worshipped the tree for the help it had provided them. This was afterwards called the Sarhul festival.
