The DVC Hazaribagh people have got warning from the naxalites that they are going to demolish Maithon Dam very soon. On May 22, 2010, around 2500 people were there at the Maithon Dam and they did a lot of hell and heaven and did all sorts of riot type thing for about 4 hours. The DVC officers were attacked, and beaten. The very same day, two leaders of the tribal council - Ramashraya Singh and Haripad Lal had warned the DVC for demolishing the Maithon Dam within 21 days.

The DVC officers exposed this yesterday on 28th May. The soldiers and the local administration remained silent and did nothing to stop the riot. In this regard, the DVC Kolkata Headquarters has been sent a letter. In this concern only, the DVC officers are in Kolkata and on 31st May, 2010, there will be a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee and 31 MPs will gather to discuss this issue. In this relation, the Home Ministry of Indian Govt., West Bengal Govt. and Jharkhand Govt. have been sent letters.

What will happen now? Will the Maithon Dam really demolish or the naxalites are just going to take this as a threatening to get their demands fulfilled. By far, whatever threatens they have given, most of them they proved true. What will be about this?
