Rajendra Prasad was born on December 3, 1844 in the village Zeradei and in the district of Saran in Bihar State.

Rajendra Prasad was the youngest son of Mahadev Sahay. Mahadev Sahay was a scholar of Persian and Sanskrit language. The mother of Rajendra Prasad - Kamleshwari Devi was a religious woman and a house wife. The family of Rajendra Prasad was quite big enough and Rajendra Prasad was the youngest in the family.

Rajendra Prasad was since always a very bright student. Right from his primary educations to that in the University of Calcutta, he always was amongst the toppers. He topped the Entrance Examination of Univesity of Calcutta and also studied in Presidency College. Rajendra Prasad's family consisted of education loving people.

Rajendra Prasad was a person with multitude of talents. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a teacher, a lawyer and more than that a bright intellectual. He played a keyrole in drafting the constitution of India and served as the president of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the constitution of the republic which lasted from 1948 to 1950.
