System of Rice Intensification (SRI)- Bihar's Srividhi campaign


Bihar's Srividhi campaign also known as The SRI or System of Rice Intensification method of paddy cultivation is creating world records and being accepted many other states in India. Here we have listed down some of the Advantages of System of Rice Intensification (SRI)/ Bihar's Srividhi method.

The SRI (System of Rice Intensification) organic method of paddy cultivation popularly known as Bihar's Srividhi campaign which has led to tremendous growth in paddy yield is not attracting other states towards it.

Advantages of System of Rice Intensification (SRI)/ Bihar's Srividhi method


The SRI method saves water, uses lesser seeds and gives higher yield. This System of Rice Intensification method is popularly known as Srividhi in Bihar and was introduced in Bihar 3 years ago. With its success more and more farmers are taking to this method of paddy cultivation. Even Andhra Pradesh is replicating the method after its success in Bihar. SRI campaign 2012 has been launched by Nitish Kumar to create more awareness about this scientific method and to encourage farmers to adopt it.
In the past 1-2 years many new world records have been created in production of paddy after using SRI method of rice cultivation. For example a farmer created a "world record" last December by producing 224 quintals of paddy per hectare by using System of Rice Intensification. Another farmer produced 135.75 quintals of wheat per hectare using the SRI method. Farmers are getting up to 40 percent more paddy yields by adopting SRI method of cultivation.
